Friday March 6th marks the World Day of Prayer, when all people are encouraged to pray. God loves to hear our prayers and takes great joy in recieving them no matter who we are or what we pray about.
A special service of prayer is being held at St James Church in Trowbridge to highlight the cause which this organisation is championing and celebrate prayer.

On Friday try to find a little time to say a prayer or simply talk to God.
Sometimes it can be difficult knowing where to start with prayers and that can stop us doing the one thing that God really wants of us. Recently Pastor Tony spoke about just that and shared with us an easy way to get going just using your hand.

Start with your Thumb, being the odd one out on your hand it quickly reminds you to do something other than ask for things. The thumb represents Praise, Give thanks to God for all the things God means to you and what God has done for you. As it can touch all the other fingers, it signifies that praise should permeate every part of prayer.
Next is the Index Finger, this is the pointing finger and often used by others to point out our personal failures. Use it to say sorry to God for anything you have done that you might be ashamed of or sorry about. Pray for those who point you in the right direction, such as teachers, pastors, and mentors.
The Middle Finger, as the tallest finger, it reminds you to pray for the big subjects such as people in authority, world events, and activities happening accross the globe. It is also the finger of Intercession (meaning praying for the needs of others). Find a little time to pray for people or situations where God could help meet a need.
Next is the Ring Finger where many display the love they have for significant others. This easily reminds us to pray for those we love and hold dear, Friends, family or whoever they may be. Talk to God about them and pray for their needs.
Finally we are left with the Pinky Finger, the smallest and last finger which reminds us to place ourselves last in prayer. Don’t forget to pray for yourself, God loves you, but focus on your own needs and relationship with God only after praying for others.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
