We are now in Advent having lit the first Advent Candle at our service on Sunday, so Christmas is on the horizon. It is time to set up a tree for the Christmas Tree Festival, held each year in St James church during the first week in December. Over 60 Christmas trees are on display from various churches and organizations from around Trowbridge town.
We Decided that this year the theme should be Love Came Down at Christmas. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour who was sent by God to redeem the world and born to be ‘King of Kings’ came to us in grace from God in Heaven.

The tree is decorated brightly with the words – Love came down at Christmas strewn about it’s branches. There are also gold presents, golden baubles and hearts. We added lights and tinsel to decorate the tree and topped it with a plaque containing Jesus. This year we kept the Angel on top as children often like looking at it. That’s a little side gift that we put in secretly. Jesus though gave a huge huge gift to mankind when he came to us at Bethlehem to share God’s love with us.
May we celebrate his birth this Christmas in gratitude, with love for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and a prayer on our lips that we may share the joy of this season in the love that came down to us in humility from God.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
