A Word From Our New Pastor
My wife and I are thrilled to be part of the joyful Christian community at Upper Studley Baptist Church. My name is Pastor Tony Brown and my wife is Liz. Whilst my title is “Minister”, I consider myself to be a Pastor, as in the Bible, pastors play a significant role in leading, guiding, and nurturing the church community. We are responsible for shepherding the flock, teaching and preaching the Word of God, providing spiritual guidance, caring for the needs of the congregation, praying for and with those in need as well as those who are rejoicing, and equipping believers for ministry.
Through our preaching, teaching, and counselling, we play a vital role in helping individuals grow in their faith and develop a deeper relationship with God. Additionally, we are called to be examples of Christ-like character and integrity, serving as role models for the fellowship. Pastors are often seen as trusted advisors and confidants, offering a listening ear and a compassionate heart to those in need. We play a crucial role in helping individuals navigate their way through difficult times, offering comfort, encouragement, and hope. Through our role as spiritual leaders and counsellors, we can make a profound impact on the lives of those we serve, helping them to grow in their relationship with God and to find strength and healing in their faith, as well as creating a sense of community and belonging within the church, as individuals feel valued and supported in their journey of faith.
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
Ephesians 4:11-12
Churches, as pillars of faith and community, have a unique opportunity to spread hope and positively, impact our local community; the community needs to be aware of the presence of the Christian love that is in their midst. In doing so, we are not only fulfilling our mission of service but also becoming beacons of light and hope in a world that desperately needs it.
